What if you could reverse the calorie equation? When your calorie intake exceeds the amount of calories you burn you gain weight. But reversing the equation would result in a “negative calorie” balance where you burn more calories than you take in. This would cause your body to use its fat stores for energy.
About 10% of the calories you take in each day is used to process the foods you eat. There are certain foods that have a negative calorie effect because your body spends more energy extracting calories from these foods then the foods actually contain. The extra calories have to be taken from fat stored in your body. Negative calorie foods are also called minus calorie foods or fat burning foods.
As an example, a certain food may consist of 300 calories and require 150 calories to be digest. The net gain of 150 calories is added to your fat store. But if you eat a food that is 100 calories and takes 150 calories to digest you’ve used up 50 calories just by eating the food. And the 50 calories used come from the stored fat in your body.
There are about 100 negative calorie foods. Here’s a list of some of them:
- apples
- asparagus
- broccoli
- beets
- cabbage
- cauliflower
- celery
- cucumber
- carrot
- garlic
- grapefruit
- lettuce
- oranges
- papaya
- pineapples
- raspberries
- spinach
- strawberries
- turnip
- zucchini
Include these foods in your daily diet and they’ll help result in fast weight loss.
